Glass palace and sheet metal hut - a country in departure but also a country of contradiction: a German delegation in the south Indian Bangalore has taken a glance at the Indian market of growth, headed by the Giesenkirchen-based enterprise Diamant. "Stadt-Spiegel" has accompanied the delegation. An experimental report by Mike Offermanns.
Bangalore - Cows are crossing the streets. Innumerable 2- or 3-wheelrs Unzählige Zwei- oder Dreiräder (so-called "Tuk-Tuks") pollute the air. And again and again Indians in baracks, sheet metal huts or tents. Yet also numerous new cars, posh boutiques, cinemas or shopping malls as in Germany. Huge glas palaces of Microsoft, Deutsche Bank, SAP or other companies are the forerunners of a new era. New compelxes are made everywhere , the university has a satellite in space enabling virtual lessons. "One should not forget India despite all the euphoria for China. The country is the better partner in many fields", says the Federal Congressman from Mönchengladbach, Günter Krings, being the India-Delegate als deputy member auf the Foreign Office for his party. India is much further advanced than China epecially in patent- or trade legislation. Local enterprises like Diamant, Dörries Scharman or Reorg have discovered the subcontinent and export there technologies "made in Mönchengladbach" to Bangalore.
